Austin fires home for QPR |
Aston Villa started the game brightly and dominated the
first half possession but couldn't produce anything from their promising build
up play.
Christian Benteke, recently returning after an achilles injury, came up with the best
chance but was ruled offside.
QPR were once again missing out-of-form midfielder Adel Taarabt,
but Harry Redknapp still thinks he “can play a part in the future” and after
the convincing performance last night, he can only strengthen the bottom three side.
A second clean sheet of the season for Rob Green came as
a weak looking Villa front three failed to score again, taking the goal drought
to nearly 9 hours.
Paul Lambert says that “this streak has to stop” and that
his side “has got to create and score goals".
Austin’s first goal came from QPR’s first shot on target after
Bobby Zamora mirrored his play at
Liverpool, chesting the ball down for Austin
to hit a sweetly struck half-volley into the bottom of Brad Guzan’s net.
A determined run and inch perfect cross from Eduardo
Vargas was met by Austin and he passed the ball into the net for QPR’s second. Redknapp described them as “two great finishes”
and thinks Austin can now go on and “get a tally of goals”.
QPR will hope to carry this form into their next match
against league leaders Chelsea on Saturday.
