Rubber Studs...SG to FG? | TEST | ThatCoultasGuy

I see a few questions online asking if you can replace the metal SG studs on football boots with rubber flat studs and use them as FG or AG boots so I decided to get myself a set.
The rubber studs are all the same size and are fairly short. Above you can see the difference between the 15mm on the left of the stud and the 13mm on the right.

When they are in the boot, it does lower it more to the ground, because the rubber studs are the same length as a standard FG stud.  Below you can see the size of the studs in a Mercurial Miracle 3, which has the same stud pattern as the top end Vapor.

Now the part you're after. How do they perform?
Natural Grass:
On firm natural grass, the rubber studs do perform quite well. The round groove pattern on the top of the stud gives it dimension and grips the ground well, allowing for good traction.
I didn't have any stud pressure on firm natural grass what-so-ever so I would say that if you wanted to replace the metal studs with the rubber ones, you can.

Artificial Grass:

I also tried these on Artificial Grass and much like on firm natural grass, they performed well and gave good traction and the width of the stud also allowed for some good stability, something which is important when playing on AG pitches with FG boots.
I did experience some stud pressure after around an hour and a half when playing on AG but it was only minor.

To summarise then:

> If you want to make your SG boots into a FG pair then I would say this works fairly well, especially if you've got SG-Pro boots.

> They don't look too strange when on the boot.

> They offer good stability.

> Cheapest way to be able to have a SG and a FG soleplate.
