Guiseley 3 – Halesowen 0 is how it finished in this FA Cup 3rd
qualifying round here at Nethermoor Park
First Half
Guiseley started the first half
well, attacking from the off but Halesowen keeper Matthew Sargeant looked comfortable.
The travelling side had a few
chances early in the first half with Asa Charlton supplying the ball, only for Ben
Haseley to find himself offside.
2 minutes later it was Guiseley
who had the opportunity to go 1 up, but Adam Boyes only managed to find the
side of Sargeants goal.
Robert Thompson-Brown played in
another ball into the box for Halesowen but Guiseley stopper, Steven Drench
dealt with it comfortably.
The first goal came for Guiseley
after half an hour when Nicky Boshell’s shot got a deflection and found its way
past the keeper.
It took 12 minutes before Gavin
Rothery added another for the home side after a deflected shot came to him and
he hit it on the half volley.
Second Half
Halesowen kicked off the second
half looking much brighter than how they finished the first with some good
build up play.
They had the opportunity
with a freekick on the edge of the box which went straight into the home side’s
wall.
It was then Guiseley’s turn to
try and finish the game early in the half, with Gavin Rothery’s curing shot going
inches wide.
4 minutes later Nicky Boshell
showed his strength, out muscling his defender but the shot went wide.
A 67th minute goal by Wayne
Brooksby put the home side further ahead and disheartened the travelling fans.
70th min substitute Oli
Johnson made an immediate impact dribbling into the box before playing in
Boshell whose shot was deflected onto the crossbar.
Guiseley’s Nicky Boshell received
man of the match in the game which ended, Guiseley 3 , Halesowen Town 0.
