Hero Indian Super League | Preview | ThatCoultasGuy

Mumbai City FC kick off the Hero Indian Super League on Tuesday with a trip to Atlético de Kolkata. It will be both sides first game in the newly established league which has been set up to deliver high quality football to hundreds of millions of fans, or so the league claims.

There are a total of 8 teams in the league:
Mumbai City FC
Delhi Dynamos FC
FC Goa
NorthEast United
FC Pune City
Chennaiyin FC
Atlético de Kolkata
Kerala Blasters FC

All of the teams have a marquee player, the likes of which are Arsenal legends Robert Pires (FC Goa) and Freddie Ljungberg (Mumbai City).  Other marquee players include:
Joan Capdevila (NorthEast United FC), Alessandro Del Piero (Delhi Dynamos FC), David Trezeguet (FC Pune City), Mikael Silvestre (Chennaiyin FC), David James (Kerala Blasters FC) and Luis Garcia (Atlético de Kolkata).

The teams will all play each other in a tournament style, each playing one another twice before being put into a knockout phase. Here there are 4 finalists. Semi Finalist 1 will play Semi Finalist 4 over 2 legs with Semi Finalists 2 and 3 doing the same. The winner of these two games will play each other in the final which will undoubtedly be the biggest game of the year for the league and it’s here where the overall league champions will be crowned.

All 8 teams will be battling it out to win the first ever Indian Super League and their name on the trophy and who can blame them? The first club to get their hands on the silverware is sure to go down in ISL history.
The league will run from the 12th October until it concludes on the 20th December and for UK viewers, the coverage of the ISL can be seen on Star Plus (SKY Channel 784) where highlights of the matches are to be shown.
