Puma evoSPEED 1 K | REVIEW | ThatCoultasGuy

A bit of a retro boot review here with the Puma evoSPEED 1 in the K leather variant.
This was the first boot in the evoSPEED line, which replaced the v1 series. It came in two upper variations, one being a synthetic upper and the other being a super soft k-leather which I am showing you today.
Being a Puma boot this has the anatomical fit, where the toebox comes to a bit of a point at the big toe, something which I feel gives a better feel and allows the boot to fit more snug.
The upper is a K-Leather and synthetic mix. In the forefoot it is soft leather which breaks in really quickly (it only took about an hour / an hour and a half to get really soft). The mid foot is predominantly a synthetic which is fairly soft but not to the extent the leather is. The synthetic is there to stop over stretching in the mid foot and I can see how it will do a good job. It also adds some stability to the boot.
The soleplate and stud pattern perform very well. The stud pattern is a twist on a ‘classic’ soleplate, reminding me of the Tiempos but slightly different. I’ve used these on natural grass and also artificial grass for a while and they’ve both performed well and held up durability wise.
The heel is well cut, providing a locked down feel. When running you do not feel as if you are going to slide out of the boot which is always a worry with some boots - but there are no such problems with the evoSPEED 1K.
The fit of the evoSPEED 1K is a slightly odd one. I am a UK 7.5 in Puma and the evoSPEED 1K in this size feels slightly too big. Not overly big, but not as tight and snug as I like boots to fit. For example the evoPOWER 1 in a UK 7.5 fits snug and close to the foot. If you can try the boots on before buying them then I would recommend trying a half size down, but if you can't then going to your PUMA size will be fine.
